Are you fearful or anxious about going to the dentist?
We have 3 options for your comfort available here at Cros Dental.
1. Nitrous sedation: nitrous “gas” is effective for those patients with mild anxiety. You will wear a compact little nose mask in which you breathe normally and begin to feel relaxed. This option is great as there are no lasting effects and you will be able to drive home as soon as your treatment is completed.
2. Conscious sedation: this type of sedation is very effective and great for those who are generally anxious about dental visits. “Conscious” sedation will be like a very light sleep and almost complete relaxation while you are still awake. This is great for procedures that take more than 1 hour as you will not have a real sense of time. This type of sedation will require you to have a driver to and from your appointment. You will not be able to drive yourself home. You may feel sleepy for the rest of the day.
3. IV “Unconscious” Sedation: this type of sedation is great for those who just want to sleep completely during the dental treatment. We have a dental anesthesiologist available who will put you to sleep and monitor you from start to finish. You will not be able to drive yourself home and will need a driver.
We understand that many patients have different levels of anxiety when seeing the dentist. At Cros Dental, we want to make sure you are offered many options to help you with your dental care. Our office is state of the art and your safety is our main concern.
Sedation Dentistry in Rancho Mirage, CA
People who are afraid of visiting a dentist have a lower threshold for pain as their guard goes up. The more they anticipate that a dental treatment will hurt, the hypersensitive they become to every sensation including touch and sound. If this describes your experience in a dental office, you might be a good candidate for sedation dentistry in Rancho Mirage. You can receive sedatives before and/or during your visit to help melt away fear and anxiety.
Sedation Dentistry Near Me
Before sedation dentistry can be recommended, your Rancho Mirage dentist and dental anesthesiologist will request a complete health and dental history from you. This must include all medications, both non-prescription, and prescription. It is also important to know if you drink or smoke. On the day of your scheduled procedure, you may need to arrange a ride to and from the office as certain medications may impair your ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.!
